Happy 11 Months Baby J

It's hard to believe that Baby J is now 11 months old.  This past month has been extremely busy with my first musical at my new job and that was an experience and a half doing it with a clingy baby.  Thankfully my family really helped out during show week and I'm so lucky she can come to rehearsals with me.    I have no idea how big Baby J is, but am guessing right around 16 - 17lbs.  She hasn't grown a whole lot in the past month physically.   She still wears some 3-6 month clothing - though we are definitely getting closer to removing all of those.   6 month clothing is a little big for the most part, but we did move up to size 3 diapers this month!

Baby J has changed so much in the last month.  She's still a very happy girl most of the time and can now make her way around pretty much anything.  She can crawl really well, sits up on her own from laying down, and pulls her self up constantly.  In fact she would much rather stand and has even started to really let go more often now.  She falls still, but she is trying.   She loves to 'walk' when you hold her hands.   We have started to eat more real - non baby- food, even though we have no teeth STILL.  That poor child has been teething since December and nothing has come through.


She loves the water also.  We have been swimming several times in the past couple weeks and she really enjoys the water.  She splashes everything and is learning to lay on her back.   She can stand by the stairs and loves to hold onto the railing and go backwards- often letting go on purpose.  The water doesn't bother her at all.  Actually she is not scared of anything.

The other thing we have done a lot lately is go to the zoo.  We have been to the Sedgwick County zoo and today visited Tangyinika zoo.   She stays awake for it all.  Today she got to pet several animals.  Even the alpacas and goats who get in her face don't bother her.  She thinks they are funny.   Today she fed birds, a giraffe, turtles, giunia pigs, goats and alpacas.

Baby J laughs all the time now.  Especially when she thinks she is getting away with something.  She also laughs at the dogs a lot.  I'm not sure why but she has found Herbie extremely funny lately.   She also likes to 'sing', 'talk' (she is getting a lot more sounds), and read books.   She is a busy little girl and plays all day and would much rather be on the floor than being confined to anything.    This month she even starred in a 'film' for Shakespeare in the Park and is set to be the face of the new Hospital care line fundraiser pic.

My house is a disaster, my life is crazy busy, and I feel like I don't get much sleep, but I wouldn't change it for the world.  I'm so lucky to have Baby J and she is such a smart, adorable, fun little girl.   I love watching her grow and learn new things.  I can't wait till we get to actually spend quality time together this summer.

Baby J- 10 Months

I kind of missed this the other day.  But Baby J is 10 months.  Loves pulling up and standing on things and is totally a momma's girl.   She's starting to walk while holding her hands and will be probably running very soon.   :-)   Not much has changed in the last few days so mostly just some pics to celebrate 10 months.

Baby J- She's moving fast!

It's amazing how fast a little baby can grow.  Just a couple months ago I was starting to really worry as we didn't seem to be moving forward in development and now Baby J is moving right along.  Yesterday she got her last Synagis shot and Baby J weighed 15 lbs 9oz.   Sadly she was barely over the weight for one shot and had to get two shots.  She didn't even notice the poke, but once the liquid went in it hurt her some..she got over it quickly.

Just in the past couple weeks so much has changed.  This week she started crawling on her knees.   While she was moving anywhere she wanted she wasn't doing a typical crawl...she was kind of like an inchworm.   She'd pull her knees up but then go flat to move.  Now she crawls and is getting very fast.  She has also started to pull her self up on everything and tries to let go.   While she can't stand on her own, she sure tries.  She loves standing.   And has no fear.  She rolled off the couch for the first time and it didn't even phase her.   Now her favorite thing to do is to stand and try to walk. If someone holds her hands she is starting to walk with support.   And all this in the past few days.  It's been crazy.

Baby J is also starting to eat a few solid foods.  She LOVES baby puffs and would much rather have that.  She does ok with some stage 3 food that we have tried and she enjoys real green beans.   So far that is about the only real food she does pretty good with, though she did eat a chip the other day (oh I guess she does eat crackers).   It's amazing how much she can do with that mouth and without any teeth---they still haven't come in.   We are also practicing more often using a sippy cup.  So far we have only found one she can sort of use...but at least she sometimes will hold it.
Overall still a very happy baby, slowing starting to add a variety of noises and sounds.  She's not a big fan of being at rehearsals, but we are almost done...two more weeks.  Part of that is because she thinks sleep is overrated.  Baby J would much rather be allowed on the floor and not contained in anything.   She's such a good baby.  I can't wait till summer when I can spend time with her more.  



 

Baby J- 9 Months and counting

Baby J turned 9 months last week (which makes her 6 p'onths adjusted this week).   Today we had our doctors appointment and she is doing really well.  She is now 14lb 10oz (19% for adjusted age), 26.6 inch (73%), and head circumference of 41.5cm (26%).  All of these are huge jumps in percentile.  The doctor was really surprised in the percentile jump for height.  She is very healthy right now and is meeting all the 6 month milestones and almost all of the 9 month milestones.   The doctor increased her acid reflux meds but said this will be the only increase and we will let her grow out of it.  We are still in 3-6 month and 6 month clothing....but getting close to saying goodbye to 3 month!

After visiting OK and my nephews again, poor Baby J came down with bronchiolitis AGAIN and had the start to an ear infection.    We saw the doctor on call and this time she got a nebulizer and the breathing treatments really

helped her get over it much faster.  There is still some cough now and then, but thankfully it all went through very fast.   We will have to stop visiting there during the winter.  :-(  

Baby J now sits up completely on her own- though she hasn't quite got the laying to sitting position down yet.  She is also now moving.  She pulls herself along with her arms- not like an army crawl...she really pulls.   She doesn't move extremely fast yet, but she can definitely get places.  She can get up on her knees and knows they need to alternate, but hasn't quite figured it out yet.   She will be quite the handful when she does figure it out.  this girl NEVER stops moving.

 

Baby J is up to stage 2 baby foods and tries to eat puffs and a couple other things.  She LOVES food and there is very little she refuses to eat.  Sometimes it takes a couple of tries, but for the most part she will eat anything.

Overall baby J is still a very happy baby.  I've been very blessed with a well behaved social baby.   She loves people.   Yesterday at a bday party for my Grandpa, she was passed around all day and did so well.  She gets a little fussy when she's tired and when her teeth really bother her.   AT school sometimes the kids have her, but she does like me in her view...which is understandable since I'm not home during the day.    She is a very good baby though.

A couple weeks ago we went to our first movie- Zootopia - she slept through most of it, but also went to the park and she got to swing for the first time.  She loved that.

This week is spring break and I get to spend all week with her and I'm loving that.   Today we took our first trip to the zoo.   She stayed awake the whole time and watched everything.  I was really surprised.   I'm not sure how much she actually saw, but I know she at least was people watching.  It was also only the second time we've spent a lot of time outside so that was nice.  I was a little jealous of all the stroller clubs (moms who group together and do things)  We are hoping to spend part of the week catching up with friends and part of the week reorganizing the apartment.  I can't wait till summer break when I get to spend all summer with her....and only 3 more weeks of the show.  

 

 

Baby J's Road Trip

We just returned from a quick road trip to see Baby J's cousins.  The twins are 3 today and my oldest nephew will be 7 in a couple days.   Baby J does pretty good traveling and for the most part sleeps in the car.
While out of state we went to the aquarium and Baby J actually stayed awake the whole time.  We had our very first major blowout of her diaper and I feel horrible...I'm hoping it's not related to taking her into the hotel pool (which really isn't the cleanest pool).

Baby J can now sit unassisted and even catches herself most of the time if she starts to fall sideways.  She sometimes still falls backwards though, but we are very excited she is sitting this week on her own.   That was our Rainbows (early childhood) goal.   She eats like CRAZY and is now finishing a container of baby food at every sitting.  Unless she is asleep she now sits in the high chairs at restaurants (though she is a little wobbly in them).  She is very happy though to sit at the table.  It's amazing how many restaurants though that have high chairs that do not fit their tables.

Baby J is eating stage 2 foods as well, but she is definitely not ready for anything very thick or real food.  I tried to give her a mashed banana at lunch today and it was to chunky.

On Monday, we went to get our pictures taken for the hospital charity thing from where she started out.    It's the care line that gave me money for food and gas so I could be up at the hospital more.   Baby J (and I guess me) will be part of their fundraising campaign.  I'm excited to see the final product that will go out.  It was a lot of fun taking pics and we got lots of compliments because she did so well.

Other than that we are keeping busy with rehearsals, playing and learning.  I can't wait till the summer when I get to spend more time with her.  She's getting pretty good at moving around in her walker.   I'm sure she will be crawling as well...soon.  She is starting to pull herself along.    I do wish her teeth would come in as she is pretty fussy sometimes and I know they are driving her insane.  Poor baby.  Chews on everything.  oh and we are officially in 3-6 month clothing...probably won't be for long.
Hopefully everyone got to enjoy the nice weather this week.  I know Baby J did some with our Aunt.

Baby J is 8 Months!

Baby J is 8 months old today which means 5 months adjusted.  Nothing is new.   She really has the back to tummy roll down...but still hasn't quite figured out that she can get places by rolling.  For the most part she is a very happy baby.  So far the only food she doesn't like is pears, apples, and oatmeal baby cereal.   She is eating about half a jar each time she eats solid food.  We are still working on sitting on our own, but today she did for about 20 seconds before falling over.  She does pretty well on non flat surfaces.  Hopefully she will get the knack of that soon.

We've started rehearsals again and she's now doing better with the kids than she did at auditions.  I was a little worried, but she likes the attention to much.   About 9pm she gets real tired and starts jabbering away to keep awake.  I swear she was singing the other day after a singing rehearsal.   Oh and we are now weeding out the 0-3 size clothing.   A few pieces fit but not much.  It's time to move on up to 3-6 months.  :-)  Sadly this out fit is one that should go.

This month we went to the Art Museum, went swimming, and even attended our first Superbowl party.
